Discovery-stage evidence
Thiopeutics’ research program is presently at the discovery stage. All data summarized on this page derive from in vitro assays and in vivo animal pharmacology studies. No findings described here have been generated in, or should be interpreted as evidence for, human clinical trials.
In vivo pharmacology
In preclinical animal models of opioid-induced respiratory depression, administration of D-cysteine ethyl ester (D-CYSee) following opioid challenge has been associated with rapid correction of minute ventilation, normalization of arterial blood-gas chemistry (pH, pO2, pCO2), and reduced ventilation-perfusion mismatch, without measurable reversal of opioid-mediated analgesia.
Safety pharmacology and tolerability
Early tolerability screening in preclinical models has not identified adverse interactions with concurrent opioid administration. Formal safety pharmacology, toxicology, and IND-enabling studies have not yet been initiated.
Development status
Thiopeutics has not initiated, and is not currently recruiting for, any human clinical trial. All statements regarding D-CYSee describe discovery and preclinical research activities intended to support future IND-enabling work. We look forward to sharing additional data with technical reviewers and prospective partners as our preclinical program matures.
